The Ann Arbor Earth Day Festival is an annual celebration coordinated by the Ann Arbor Earth Day Festival Planning Committee, a coalition of local environmental nonprofits and agencies, and held at Leslie Science & Nature Center. This free, family-friendly event features displays from 40 local environmental, nonprofit, and governmental organizations; live animal demonstrations; hands-on activities; live entertainment; green building & commuting technologies; energy topics; water awareness; sustainable agriculture; and more.

Spring Eggstravaganza

Saturday, April 20, 2019 - 10:00am to 12:00pm

Birds, Insects, Amphibians—oh my! Come out to LSNC for a morning of investigating the many animals that lay eggs. Hunt for eggs in the woods and fields by following clues, solving riddles, or using a compass. Meet our birds of prey up close, visit the Critter House, play games, and more. You may even win one of five grand prizes if you find one of the elusive golden eggs! Bring your own bag or basket for collecting eggs and prizes, grab a friend, and join us for an EGGcelent morning of fun and adventure. Please note: This is a candy-free event.There is no hard-start, the egg hunts run all morning, so come any time!

Mother's Day Wildflower Hike

Sunday, May 12, 2019 - 1:00pm to 2:30pm
$5 per person, Mothers are free!
All Ages (Youth must be accompanied by an adult)

Treat the mothers and mother figures in your life to a guided wildflower hike through Black Pond Woods and the LSNC grounds, or take the hike yourself in their honor! We'll find lovely blooms popping up through the grass or sprouting on the forest floor. Enjoy a short presentation on local wildflowers and then get outside to see what is blooming here at LSNC. During the presentation and hike, participants will learn basic plant identification skills using field guides as well as some of the fascinating folklore surrounding some of these plants. Enjoy a "tea time" of ice-cold lemonade or iced tea and granola bars in the garden before you head home. We encourage participants to make a day of your trip by bringing a picnic lunch and enjoying Critter House Open Hours between 10am and 1pm before the program.

Parents' Night Out: Stories of the Sky

Saturday, April 27, 2019 - 5:30pm to 10:00pm
$30 per child for non-members ($25 per child for members)
Youth currently enrolled in K-5th grades
It's a night out for grown-ups while the kids enjoy an exciting evening at LSNC. Celebrate the coming Vernal (Spring) Equinox and turn your eyes skyward to study constellations and planets with the University Lowbrow Astronomers. Learn about the science behind telescopes and dream up your own star-related myths and legends.
 
Parents’ Night Out includes a Panera sandwich box with PB&J or Turkey as well as a late-night popcorn snack. Families are welcome to send their child with a dinner from home. Activities will be outside as much as possible, so please come dressed for the weather!
 
Registration is required by 12PM on April 24th in order to receive a Panera box dinner as we must place our order 3 days in advance. If you register after the cut-off date, your child will need to come with a dinner from home.  Register for this event online, or call 734-997-1553. 

Owl Do I Love Thee

Thursday, February 14, 2019 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm
$30 per couple ($25 for members)
Adults 18 years and older

Treat your special someone to an evening of romance and fun with our resident owls. Get up close and personal with these magnificent night hunters as you learn about their mating habits and rituals. Then, snuggle up on an outdoor, candle-lit poetry walk. Warm up inside with board games and art projects-or bring your own game to play-while you enjoy tasty desserts and beverages. Nothing says “I love you” like a night out in nature! Please come dressed for the weather. This event is also being offered on Saturday, February 9 for those interested in a weekend date.
