Rebecca Nielsen

Becca owns and operates Nielsen Education Consulting, a small business specializing in professional development and coaching for teachers, education institutions, and non-profits in the areas of Place-based education, science and environmental education programming, and curriculum planning.  She is currently a consultant for the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative’s (GLSI) evaluation team, and serves as a Director of Site Based Programming for the Southeast Michigan Stewardship Coalition. In the past she has worked at the Detroit Science Center, National Wildlife Federation, and has taught high school biology and ecology.  Becca holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan, and a Masters of Teaching in secondary science education from the University of Virginia. She is trained in several prominent national environmental education curricula, is a facilitator for the Michigan Environmental Education Curriculum Support (MEECS) series, and is a certified Habitat Steward for the National Wildlife Federation.  She currently lives in Ypsilanti, MI, with her husband Chris and two daughters Lacey and Hannah.
