Melissa Selva

Melissa Selva was born and raised in California, until moving to Ann Arbor in 2016 for graduate school at University of Michigan's School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) with a degree in Conservation Ecology. She has always had a passionate love for the outdoors, which developed into a fierce desire to protect it as she grew up and learned the about the threats to the planet. She grew up attending Junior Ranger programs at her small, local nature center, and has a long history of attending and later assisting at summer camps. After spending two consecutive summers as a summer camp educator with LSNC while completing her Masters' degree, she joined the team permanently upon graduation: first as a general educator, serving as Assistant Camp Director in 2019, and moved into her current role of Camps Programs Manager in December of 2019. With a great deal of mentoring, a surplus of mistakes and successes, and a little luck, Melissa has truly found her place at LSNC and in the world of environmental education, and couldn't imagine doing much else. It's a privilege to work for an organization that serves its community so well, and nurtures the young minds that will be the next generation stepping up to value and protect the natural world
