Kids take action in the Huron River Watershed with help from the Leslie Science and Nature Center

The 2007-2008 school year has brought us another fabulous year of student investigation in the Huron River Watershed. From Highland to Ypsilanti, over 525 students from 5th- 8th grade slipped on waders and grabbed test tubes in order to conduct vital tests and monitor the health of the river.  But the work doesn’t stop at the river. With this knowledge and information comes great responsibility. Those that participate in GREEN (Global Rivers Environmental Education Network) are then charged with the responsibility of taking action in order to improve the health of the river and the communities that live within the watershed. This page is to celebrate these accomplishments and inform others that even small changes can add up to make a big difference.

Check out what the students from the schools below are doing in our watershed to help the Huron River.  Each participating school has a link below that contain several examples of students work such as pictures, projects and results.
