Raptor Programs

All of the magnificent raptors used in our programs have come through the River Raisin Raptor Center.  Having suffered permanent injuries, and unable to survive in the wild, these non-releasable wild birds have been trained to help their wild relatives by educating people about the issues facing raptors today.  Invite the Leslie Science and Nature Center and their hawks, falcons, owls, and eagles into your classroom, home, faith, or other community groups to captivate your imagination, engage your senses, and educate and entertain your minds.

It’s all about survival! Three engaging raptors, e.g. hawks, owls and falcons, will visit your site to demonstrate and model their amazing survival characteristics and techniques. Hands-on explorations of feathers, skulls and other bird parts provide a stimulating introduction to the Hunter of the Sky. 60 minutes. Appropriate for grades 1-12.

Night Crew
Allow our owl visitors to engage, delight and educate your students. Classification, conservation and survival techniques are but a few of the topics explored through live birds, activities, and hands-on explorations. Students will discover what it is like to be a nighttime predator. 60 minutes. Appropriate for grades 1-12.

silent feathered friends
Young students take flight as we spin an owl tale. After the story, students will have the opportunity to enjoy hands-on experiences at our touch table and meet a native Michigan owl. 30-45 minutes.  Appropriate for preschool-kindergarten.
