Nature Tale: An Owl Tale
Saturday, February 13, 2016 - 11:00am to 12:00pm
Ages: 1-5 year olds with adult
Cost: $4 per child for Non-Members, $3 per child for Members

Join us for this naturally unique story time! We will read "Owl Moon" by Jane Yolen and John Schoenherr, learn owl calls, and see if we can find where owls may be sleeping in our woods. Each month we accompany the story with a selection of hands-on, nature-themed pursuits that will include live animal visits and an outdoor activity. Nature Tales happen twice a month during the school year - you can choose to come on Wednesday or Saturday!

Owl Do I Love Thee
Sunday, February 14, 2016 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Ages: 18 and up
Cost: $25/couple

Celebrate Valentines Day this year at LSNC. Inspired by our heart-shaped faced owls, we will eat chocolate covered strawberries and gourmet cheese and crackers, and whet our whistle with a tasty beverage. Participants will also take a romantic lantern lit poetry walk around the enclosures and watch the sweetest owls up close.

Tiny Tot Walks
Wednesday, February 24, 2016 - 10:00am to 11:00am
Ages: 1-3 years old, caregiver required
Cost: $4 per child for Non-Members, $3 per child for Members

Getting outside with your toddler can be a fun way to spend a morning! Join us as we take a guided walk along our trails to see what each month during the seasons brings us.  Each walk will last about 1 hour and will take a very leisurely pace to accommodate the tot's little legs. This program is designed for adults to stay with their children. The group will meet on the front porch of the Leslie House.

Tykes Preschool Program - Dr. Seuss Adventures
Tuesday, March 1, 2016 - 9:00am to 11:00am
Ages: 4-5 years old
Cost: $100 per child per month for Non-Members, $95 per child per month for Members

In celebration of Dr. Seuss's birth month, we will spend March reading his books and letting his wacky characters inspire our crafts and activities!  

Our Tykes preschool programs are designed for your 4-5 year old in mind.  Each session is two hours long and you can drop your child off or stay with them knowing they will have a fun and educational time learning about a variety of science and nature topics.  They will participate in a variety of activities including animal presentations, hikes in Black Pond Woods, crafts, experiments, and a snack.  The activities are centered on each month's theme.  March's theme is Dr. Seuss Adventures, and runs Tuesday and Thursday March 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, and 24 from 9-11.

Parents' Night Out - Creatures of the Night
Saturday, March 5, 2016 - 5:00pm to 10:00pm
Ages: 6-12 years old
Cost: $30 per child for Non-members, $25 per child for Members

It's a night out for parents while the kids explore a unique evening at LSNC. Join us as we discover what life at LSNC is like after dark!  Through crafts, stories, activities, a night hike, and meeting some of our animals up close, your child will discover the fascinating world of nocturnal creatures. We will provide your child with a pizza dinner and an evening snack. This is a great night for parents to go out and enjoy themselves while their children have a fun and educational evening with our Educators here at LSNC.

Turtles

Did you know that Michigan has a state reptile? Well, it's a turtle! Turtles have been around for millions of years and we think it's about time we gave them a show. We are very lucky to have so many interesting types of turtles in Michigan and this is an opportunity to learn more about them while meeting some live ones up close and personal.

Owls: Inside & Out

What makes an owl a great nocturnal predator? Meet a few of LSNC’s resident owls to find out! Following a visit from our nocturnal raptors, we will dissect real owl pellets to find out what they are eating and why.

Fireside Fun - A Good Old-fashioned Campfire Circle

There's nothing quite as relaxing as sitting around a campfire, roasting marshmallows and swapping stories. One Sunday a month, we'll be stoking the fires here at LSNC. Bring your family, camp chairs, and s'mores fixings. We'll provide a blazing outdoor campfire and plenty of marshmallows.
