Critters Up Close

Now you have more opportunities to see Critters Up Close every month at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum! We bring a selection of live animals to the Museum and AAHOM offers special animal-oriented hands-on activities. Animals will be meeting and greeting visitors from 10-4 on Saturday (with a mid-day “Animal Naptime”) and 1-4 on Sunday.  This month's theme is Vernal Pond Life: Salamanders and Friends!

Mother's Day Wildflower Hike

Treat the mothers and mother figures in your life to a guided wildflower hike through Black Pond Woods and the LSNC grounds, or take the hike yourself in their honor! We'll find lovely blooms popping up through the grass or sprouting on the forest floor. She’ll feel like Mother of the Year! LSNC invites local families – especially mothers! – and other individuals interested in learning more about our native spring wildflowers to join us for this event. You will be treated to a short presentation on local wildflowers and then get outside to see what is blooming here at LSNC. During the presentation and hike, participants will learn basic plant identification skills using field guides as well as some of the fascinating folklore surrounding some of these plants.

Current and potential supporters gather for an upscale evening to celebrate the work of LSNC while ensuring our continued success. Wandering our beautiful grounds under twinkling lights, guests enjoy drinks and a catered meal set to live music. Our staff looks forward to the opportunity to mingle while providing up-close interactions with our live birds of prey and Critter House animals. The evening culminates with an engaging presentation with our talented educators. Anyone interested in sponsoring the event can learn more by emailing or calling our main office.

Fireside Fun- A Good Old-Fashioned Campfire Circle

There's nothing quite as relaxing as sitting around a campfire, roasting marshmallows and swapping stories. One Sunday a month, we'll be stoking the fires here at LSNC. Bring your family, friends, camp chairs, outdoor games, and s'mores fixings. We'll provide a blazing outdoor campfire and plenty of marshmallows. This event is rain or shine (except for thunder and lightening), so come dressed for the weather.

Nature Playgroup

Outdoor environments are a great way to engage all of your toddler's developing senses, and give kids a bit of exercise, too! Join us select on Wednesdays as we come together for a mix of guided and self-guided outdoor activities that allow 1-3 year olds and their grown-ups to explore, engage with, and experience the outdoors.  Programs take place outdoors rain or shine--please dress for the weather.

Programs will take place outdoors rain or shine—please dress for the weather. This program’s theme is In the Sky.

Great American Backyard Campout
Saturday, June 24, 2017 - 4:00pm to Sunday, June 25, 2017 - 11:00am
Ages: All ages
$50 per family

Pitch your tent with our resident raptors and critters! Be part of a nation-wide event; enjoy nature-based programs, campfires, and much more! At camper's leisure they are able to eat their picnic dinner (not provided) either at LSNC's picnic tables or at their campsite. Breakfast will be provided.  Minimum of one adult per family is required.
