Join us every other Thursday morning for outdoor and nature-based activities that inspire you and your child to explore and appreciate the out of doors in Ann Arbor’s very own backyard (Leslie!). Each session will be centered around a specific theme and include a variety of hands-on activities, like live animal encounters, guided hikes, group games, and enticing stories.  Programs will take place outdoors please dress appropriately. This program’s theme is Tracks.

Raptor Feeding

Free

Join LSNC raptor staff for dinner time. During this hour, you can see staff prepare scrumptious raptor food for our wild owls, hawks and eagles — and, yes, that does mean dead mice and rats! This is a great time to see the birds doing their most natural behavior … eating. This will also be an opportunity to touch feathers, see a hawk or owl pellet, discover more about bird anatomy and ask our expert staff questions regarding the birds and other ways you can learn more about them!

Nature Tykes: Winter Woods
Tuesday, January 10, 2017 - 10:00am to Tuesday, January 31, 2017 - 11:30am
Ages: 4-5 years
$38 per child ($36 for members)

Our Nature Tykes programs are designed with your 4-5 year old in mind.  Each 1.5 hour session allows your early learner to have authentic, age-appropriate nature-based experiences. Monthly themes will help guide activities that include live animal presentations, hikes in Black Pond Woods, natural crafts, and hands-on experiments. This drop-off program is designed to encourage participants to feel comfortable asking questions, exploring, and engaging with the natural world. January's theme is Winter Woods.

Critters Up Close
Saturday, January 14, 2017 - 10:00am to Sunday, January 15, 2017 - 4:00pm

Free with museum admission

Now you have more opportunities to see Critters Up Close every month at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum! We bring a selection of live animals to the Museum and AAHOM offers special animal-oriented hands-on activities. Animals will be meeting and greeting visitors from 10-4 on Saturday (with a mid-day “Animal Naptime”) and 1-4 on Sunday.  This month's theme is Mammals!

Nature Playgroup
Wednesday, January 18, 2017 - 10:00am to 11:00am
Ages: 1-3 years with an adult
$4 per child ($3 per member), adults are free

Outdoor environmentas are a great way to engage all of your toddler's developing senses, and give kids a bit of exercise, too! Join us select Wednesdays as we come together for a mix of guided and self-guided outdoors activities that allow 1-3 year olds and their grown-ups to explore, engage with, and experience the outdoors. Groups will meet on the front porch of the Leslie House. Programs take place outdoors rain or shine--please dress for the weather.

Parents' Night Out: Whooooo's There?
Saturday, February 4, 2017 - 5:00pm to 10:00pm
Ages: 6-12 years
$30 per child ($25 per member)

It's a night out for grown-ups while the kids enjoy an exciting evening at LSNC. Meet our nocturnal hunters and explore the ways they fly, hunt, and survive. Explore our grounds after dark and test your own owl-like survival skills. Parents’ Night Out includes pizza and carrots for dinner as well as a late-night popcorn snack. Activities will be outside as much as possible, so please come dressed for the weather!
