Owling: Adults Only

$9 per person ($8 per member)

Join us for an enchanting evening with owls. Night hikes, owl calling, and visits with live owls will fill the evening with wonder as we discover how ears, eyes, and feathers help owls survive the night. This program is for adults age 18+. A similar event for families is offered on November 19.

Fireside Fun- A Good Old-Fashioned Campfire Circle

Free

There's nothing quite as relaxing as sitting around a campfire, roasting marshmallows and swapping stories. One Sunday a month, we'll be stoking the fires here at LSNC. Bring your family, friends, camp chairs, outdoor games, and s'mores fixings. We'll provide a blazing outdoor campfire and plenty of marshmallows. This event is rain or shine (except for thunder and lightening), so come dressed for the weather.

Nature Playgroup
Wednesday, November 30, 2016 - 10:00am to 11:00am
Ages: Ages 1-3 with an adult
$4 per child ($3 per member), adults are free

Outdoor environments are a great way to engage all of your toddler’s developing senses, and get a bit of exercise! Join us every other week as we come together for a mix of guided and self-guided outdoor activities that allow parents, caregivers, and children to explore, engage with, and experience the outdoors. Programs will take place outdoors, please dress appropriately.

Each session will be centered around a specific theme and include a variety of hands-on activities, like live animal encounters, guided hikes, group games, and enticing stories.  Programs will take place outdoors please dress appropriately. This program’s theme is Wiggly Worms.

Nature Tykes: What's Wild

Ages: Ages 4-5
$38 per child ($36 for members)

Our Nature Tykes programs are designed for your 4-5 year old in mind.  Each 1.5 hour session allows your early learner to have authentic, age-appropriate nature-based experiences. Monthly themes will help guide activities that include live animal presentations, hikes in Black Pond Woods, natural crafts, and hands-on experiments. This state licensed drop-off program is designed to encourage participants to feel comfortable asking questions, exploring, and engaging with the natural world. December's theme is What's Wild.

Programs will take place on Decmeber 6th, 13th, and 20th from 10-11:30am.

Critters Up Close
Saturday, December 10, 2016 - 10:00am to 4:00pm

Free with museum admission

Now you have more opportunities to see Critters Up Close every month at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum! We bring a selection of live animals to the Museum and AAHOM offers special animal-oriented hands-on activities. Animals will be meeting and greeting visitors from 10-4 on Saturday (with a mid-day “Animal Naptime”) and 1-4 on Sunday.  This month's theme is Diurnal Raptors: Hawks and Falcons!

Parents' Night Out: Animal Engineers
Saturday, December 10, 2016 - 5:00pm to 10:00pm
Ages: Ages 6-12
$30 per child ($25 per member)

It's a night out for grown-ups while the kids enjoy an exciting evening at LSNC. Study the incredible adaptations that help animals hunt, run, jump, and swim, and then apply those ideas to your own inventions and creations. Parents’ Night Out includes pizza and carrots for dinner as well as a late-night popcorn snack. Activities will be outside as much as possible, so please come dressed for the weather!

Wonderful Winter Woods
Sunday, December 11, 2016 - 1:00pm to 3:00pm
Ages: Children under 12 years old with an adult
$8 per child ($7 per member), adults are free

It may not seem like much is going on in Black Pond Woods this winter, but there is a lot happening beneath the brambles, soil, and snow! Hunt for tracks and animals signs in the wintry woods on a hike, make a reusable gift bag from an up-cycled t-shirt, and enjoy hot cocoa and stories by a blazing fire. The frogs, bats, and skunks may be hibernating, but this will be the perfect opportunity for humans to get outside and enjoy the season. Bring your own t-shirt to reuse or we'll provide one!
