Fieldtrips are for adults too! Meet at LSNC at 2:00 p.m. to carpool to Haehnle Memorial Sanctuary near Jackson where during the fall over 8,000 Sandhill Cranes have been counted coming in to roost for the night. We will enjoy the evening as these large, graceful birds buzz the tree tops surrounding their evening marsh roost. Their reverberating primitive call makes a wonderful backdrop as we use binoculars and spotting scopes to get a birds-eye view of their evening home. We'll be sure to see other birds, like the northern harrier, taking advantage of this beautiful Audubon wildlife sanctuary. Binoculars and spotting scope will be provided, but feel free to bring your own, and please dress for the weather - we've found that when you're bird watching, it's always colder than you think! Space is limited, and preregistration is required. Recommended for ages 15+.
