Nature Tales: Animal Skulls

Join us every other Thursday morning for outdoor and nature-based activities that inspire you and your child to explore and appreciate the out of doors in Ann Arbor’s very own backyard (Leslie!). Each session will be centered around a specific theme and include a variety of hands-on activities, like live animal encounters, guided hikes, group games, and enticing stories.  Programs will take place outdoors please dress appropriately. This program’s theme is Animal Skulls.

Animal Haunts
Saturday, October 29, 2016 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Ages: Children ages 5-12 years old, and their family
$10 per person, or $35 per family

LSNC’s beloved autumnal celebration returns! Celebrate Halloween with LSNC's non-scary Animal Haunts. Take a guided hike through Black Pond Woods, where costumed interpreters bring plants and animals to life by sharing natural history facts and stories. We'll have festive fun with harvest crafts,a hay jump, and more. Don't forget to come in costume!

Nature Tykes: Nature's Decomposers
Tuesday, November 1, 2016 - 10:00am to Tuesday, November 29, 2016 - 11:30am
Ages: Ages 4-5
$38 per child ($36 for members)

Our Nature Tykes programs are designed for your 4-5 year old in mind.  Each 1.5 hour session allows your early learner to have authentic, age-appropriate nature-based experiences. Monthly themes will help guide activities that include live animal presentations, hikes in Black Pond Woods, natural crafts, and hands-on experiments. This state licensed drop-off program is designed to encourage participants to feel comfortable asking questions, exploring, and engaging with the natural world. November's theme is Nature's Decomposers.

Programs will take place on November 1st, 15th, 22nd, and 29th from 10-11:30am.

Nature Playgroup
Wednesday, November 9, 2016 - 10:00am to 11:00am
Ages: Ages 1-3 with an adult
$4 per child ($3 per member), adults are free

Outdoor environments are a great way to engage all of your toddler’s developing senses, and get a bit of exercise! Join us every other week as we come together for a mix of guided and self-guided outdoor activities that allow parents, caregivers, and children to explore, engage with, and experience the outdoors. Programs will take place outdoors please dress appropriately

Critters Up Close

Free with museum admission

Now you have more opportunities to see Critters Up Close every month at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum! We bring a selection of live animals to the Museum and AAHOM offers special animal-oriented hands-on activities. Animals will be meeting and greeting visitors from 10-4 on Saturday (with a mid-day “Animal Naptime”) and 1-4 on Sunday.  This month's theme is Nocturnal Raptors: Owls!

Parents' Night Out: Critters that Squirm in the Night
Saturday, November 12, 2016 - 5:00pm to 10:00pm
Ages: Ages 6-12
$30 per child ($25 per member)

It's a night out for grown-ups while the kids enjoy an exciting evening at LSNC. Get down and dirty with the tiny world of insects, worms, and spiders as you play games, complete challenges, and more. Then, visit live critters to see the insect life cycle and food chain in action! Parents’ Night Out includes pizza and carrots for dinner as well as a late-night popcorn snack. Activities will be outside as much as possible, so please come dressed for the weather!

Owling: Adults Only
Friday, November 18, 2016 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Ages: 18 and up
$9 per person ($8 per member)

Join us for an enchanting evening with owls. Night hikes, owl calling, and visits with live owls will fill the evening with wonder as we discover how ears, eyes, and feathers help owls survive the night. This program is for adults age 18+. A similar event for families is offered on November 19.
