An Afternoon with Sandhill Cranes
Sunday, October 18, 2015 - 2:00pm to 6:00pm
Ages: 16 and up
Cost: $10/person

Fieldtrips are for adults too! Meet at LSNC at 2:00 pm and carpool to the Haehnle Memorial Sanctuary where over 8,000 sandhill cranes have been counted coming in to roost for the night in the fall. We will enjoy the evening as this large bird buzzes the tree tops surrounding their evening marsh roost. Their reverberating primitive call makes a wonderful back drop as we get a birds eye view of their evening home. We may also see others, like the northern harrier, that take advantage of this Audubon wildlife sanctuary 8 miles northeast of Jackson. We will only have a few pairs of binoculars so please bring your own. Please dress for the weather! When bird watching, it is always colder than you think.
