We believe hands-on, engaging science learning is a vital part of education - and we're happy to have the support of local singer-songwriter Joe Reilly in our efforts! Come help us make Leslie Science & Nature Center's environmental programs available to children with limited resources - the music starts at 11:00 a.m., but you're welcome to stay all day - bring a picnic, visit our Critter House, marvel at our Raptors, and support a great cause!
Discover how much fun camping can be by pitching your tent at the Leslie Science & Nature Center! Be a part of a nation-wide event that brings families together and closer to nature. Enjoy nature-based programs, tent space, campfires, dinner & breakfast, and much more! The campout event is designed for all ages and a minimum of one adult per family is required.
Students will be tracking how quickly trees grow based on local climates and will record the opening of tree and flower buds through the spring, then will put all of their observations into regional and global contexts. Students are not required to attend all three sessions, but may benefit more if they are able to do so.
Session three: we will use handheld GPS units to determine the location of trees and collect additional data to report to Project Budburst and the Global Tree-Banding Project.
The City of Ann Arbor's Natural Area Preservation staff will share how you can create a native plant garden, including recommendations for the types of plants to use and the first steps to take in creating a home garden. This is a great opportunity to meet Ann Arbor's native plant specialists.
Ask any camper and they will say that choice time and choice carnival are their favorite parts of the camp week. You're invited to take part in a two-hour-long choice carnival full of the favorite activities of both our staff and our campers!
Come out to LSNC for a family picnic and enjoy the company of the community - featuring live music from Gemini! Bring your blanket & lunch and enjoy guided hikes, field games, LSNC's Critter House, and our resident Raptors. The music starts at noon, so come early to find the best spot for your picnic blanket!
There’s nothing quite as relaxing as sitting around a campfire, roasting marshmallows and swapping stories. One Sunday each month we’ll be stoking the fires here at LSNC and we’d love for you to join us! We’ll provide the campfire and marshmallows so all you need to do is grab the family, camp chairs, and the rest of your s’mores fixings. This is a FREE program and no registration is required. Hope to see you there!
