LSC Programs
The Leslie Science and Nature Center (LSNC) has partnered with Earth Force to engage middle and high school students in learning about and improving the environment in their community through the GREEN program.
The
Global Rivers Environmental Education Network (GREEN) brings science to
life through active learning, assessment, brainstorming, decision-making
and action. The GREEN program offers specific activities and scientific
tools that LSNC staff and classroom teachers use to build exciting, hands-on
science programs around watershed assessment and improvement projects. Resources
include the innovative Protecting Our Watersheds curriculum (correlated
to MI Benchmarks), testing skills, and online data entry and assessment
tools that are available at www.green.org.
The Leslie Science and Nature Center and Earth Force trains and supports
educators within the Huron River Watershed.
Through the GREEN program, LSNC works to counteract three significant trends:

It does so by giving young people experience in solving environmental problems and leading community change.
Together we encourage young people to look at the root cause of the issue and focus on sustainable solutions to improve the environment and community. Currently we have programs in place in Belleville North Middle School, Highland Middle School, and Scranton Middle School in Brighton and will be starting programs in Ann Arbor this school year.
