provides humane bat removal for Michigan residents
and is partnered with the Organization for Bat
Conservation.

Step into the world of bats with this exciting
multimedia presentation with ethnic music and a
cultural geographic perspective. Topics include
sound waves, ecosystems, food webs, and
conservation. See live U.S. bats, South American
bats, and rare African bats with 4-foot wingspans!
Types of bats shown: a wide variety including large
fruit bats from around the world (one with a 4 foot
wingspan), and smaller micro bats from North
America.

installing alternative energy systems on their
homes. For information on how to begin this process,
join us at the Leslie Science & Nature Center on
February 11th from 7:00pm-8:00pm for a presentation
on home installation of photovoltaic’s. John Wakeman
founder of SUR Energy, LLC, a supplier of renewable
energy products and services will present
information on home installation, solar benefits,
costs, and tax incentives. John is a NABCEP
certified installer (North American Board of
Certified Energy Practitioners) has formal
integrator training and is a licensed builder and
electrical contractor. Bring the whole family! While
adults learn the ins and outs of solar power, kids
will explore the power of the sun through kid
friendly hands on activities (appropriate for ages 5
and up).

Grab your digital camera and join LSNC staff for a
wintery walk to capture nature's surprises. Nature
enthusiast Stefan Szumko will share his tips on how
to take close-ups, edit, enhance, and create
beautiful works of art with your photographs.

Join us for an enchanting evening with owls. Night
hikes, owl calling and visits with live owls will
fill the evening with wonder as we discover how

Croak, ribbit and peep on over for our festival of
frogs! Practice making frog calls before hoppin’ on
down to the pond to join the frogs as they jump and
splash in the duckweed. Discover more about frogs,
salamanders and toads as we explore their different
stages of development with games, activities, and
observation.
