The Bugliest Bug

Outdoor environmental adventures for all ages of scouts! Your troop may choose a two-hour program or an overnight program, in which we will complete most, if not all, of the requirements for many scout badges. Call 997-1553 for more information or to register.

Discover Nature through your child’s eyes. Join us for a carnival of indoor and outdoor hands-on activities that will delight toddlers and provide a wonderful introduction to the great outdoors. Visit the Critter House and meander past our Birds of Prey to spy on owls, hawks and other raptors. Come each time for new and exciting themes.

Family Trivia Night

Birds in Focus Fundraiser

Join local expert wildlife photographers for a light breakfast and an introduction to wildlife photography. After instruction we’ll head out side to find some interesting subjects. Insects, plants and of course our resident raptors will be happy to model. The Northern Saw Whet Owl to the Bald Eagle and the other birds in between will be happy to let you practice your new skills. Join in this once a year event and help support the LSNC “Education on the Wing” program.
“Get Out” Challenge KickOff

Celebrate “Take A Child Outside Week” (Sept. 24-30) by joining the “GET OUT” Challenge and Discover the natural world through your child’s eyes. Explore your city parks and your own backyard by completing 8 out of the 10 adventure challenges by the end of October and earn a special prize. “Get Out” Challenge Nature Hike

Join LSNC and Natural Area Preservation at Mary Beth Doyle Park, located on the south side of Ann Arbor, for a “plants in our parks” evening walk. For extra fun, show up early and bring a picnic. Children of the Earth concert with Joe Reilly

Join us for a fun filled and inspiring concert with Joe Reilly, a singer, songwriter and environmental educator at the Leslie Science & Nature Center. Joe, along with LSNC campers, has written and recorded songs to teach ecology and environmental stewardship and to celebrate our connections with the earth and its resources.
Animal Haunts: Creatures of the Night

Celebrate Halloween at LSNC’s non-scary Animal Haunts featuring our favorite Creatures of the Night. Out on the trail we will visit costumed characters that will entertain and educate us with skits and songs. Join us for games, hay jumping, face painting, and guided hikes (40 min.) that leave from the campfire every few minutes.
GPS Geo-Caching

Owl Prowl

Earth Day Celebration

Celebrate the earth with local environmental organizations. Explore and participate in the variety of hands on activities and demonstrations while listening to local musicians. All are welcomed to come dressed as their favorite plant or animal and join the all species parade.
Habitats for Home Schoolers
Friday, September 26, 1:00-3:00pm
$5/person, ages 5-12, adult required
Ponder producers, contemplate consumers, and delve into decomposers as we investigate and explore the forest and pond habitats at LSNC and visit the animals in the Critter House.
Ann Arbor's Material Recovery Facility hosts open houses September through June on the second Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon. MRF Open Houses allow the public to tour the recycling operations and learn about waste reduction and recycling issues. Through our free monthly themes and activities, visitors can learn the importance of reducing, reusing, recycling, composting, and caring for our planet. Tours are free. Closed shoes are required. Pre-register by calling the Leslie Science and Nature Center at 734-997-1553 or contacting info@lesliesnc.org.

Group Tours
Groups of 15 or more may schedule tours and enjoy themed programs on weekdays between 9 AM and 4 PM. MRF tours are great for school groups, scouts, youth groups, civic groups, college classes, and other groups interested in learning about recycling.
