What forms do I need to fill out ahead of time? How do I return the forms, and when do I need to return them?
We require that prior to dropping your child off, you complete and return the Health & Emergency Form, as well as a completed form detailing who is able to pick up your child at the end of the day or in the event that they need to leave camp early.
You can mail, e-mail, or drop them off to us.

My child has food allergies, he/she will need to bring an epi pen, how do you handle this? What do you provide for snacks? Is the camp peanut/nut free?
Many children that have food allergies attend camp. We ask that you detail the allergy on the emergency/health form that we provide and when you drop off your camper. On Monday morning, you will speak with the camp staff and fill out a medicine authorization form. The camp staff will keep the epi pen with them at all times throughout camp. We do not provide any snacks that contain peanuts or nuts; we strive to provide healthy snacks like fruits, vegetables, crackers, cheese, and more. However, camp is not peanut nor nut free in that we do not ask that other campers not bring those items. They typically eat lunch outside, but if your child’s allergy is severe enough, we can send notices that it will be a peanut/nut free week.
What happens in the event of bad weather?
There are many definitions of bad weather. We ask that your child come prepared to go outdoors if it is hot and sunny as well as cool and wet. In the event of lightening and tornados, all camp sessions have a dedicated building, and all campers will stay indoors. We do have basement space large enough to accommodate all children. The camp director monitors the weather and keeps all groups aware of the forecast.
I need to cancel my child’s camp registration. Is there a cancellation policy? How do I cancel? Can I switch weeks?
We do have a cancellation policy, and we ask that you read through it before registering your camper. To cancel your child’s camp, we need the request in writing; an e-mail is fine. Please send your request to info@lesliesnc.org, including your name, your child’s name, and the camp that you want to cancel. All refunds are returned by check within 15 business days.
If you choose to switch weeks of camp, please note we can only switch weeks if the camp you would like still has openings. Switching camp weeks must happen at least 15 days prior to the first day of your registered camp session. There will be a $10 processing fee charged for each switched camp session.
To ensure you get your favorite camps, sign up early. There is a 3 session summer camp maximum for each camper.
What is your bug spray/sunscreen procedure?
Please apply this prior to coming to camp and then provide your child with his/her own bottles. If the child is old enough, we give them time throughout the day to reapply. If they are younger, we will reapply as needed.
What is the ratio of staff to campers? Do you perform background checks on your employees?
For the 4 and 5 year olds, we have 2 camp staff per 14 children, for the older groups we provide 2 camp staff per 16 children. We also have 2-3 high school camp volunteers per camp session as helpers. We perform background checks on all individuals 18 and older.
Do you offer early drop off and/or late pickup?
We do offer extended care throughout the summer either before or after the camp day. Please check your camp schedule to register. There is an additional fee for this service.
If you cancel a camp, how and when we will be notified?
If we cancel camp, we will call you as soon as we make the decision, but expect to be notified no later than 7:30 a.m. the morning of the camp. It will also be announced on 107.1 radio station, as well as our website.
How do I contact you if I need to get a message to my child?
On Monday morning, you will receive a letter detailing what campers will be doing throughout the week, along with permission forms and how to contact us. The main office number is 734-997-1553; please call this number and all messages/questions will be addressed.
How do I register for camps?
All of our camps have online registration capability. Registration links are provided on the page describing each camp. You may also call, and we can process your registration by phone. We take payment, in full, at the time of registration, and we accept MasterCard or Visa. You can also stop by the office and register. In the office we can accept credit card, check or cash.
Are scholarships available? If so, how do I apply for a scholarship?
Yes, through generous donations we have a scholarship fund. The funds are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like to be considered for a scholarship, please fill out our scholarship application, and submit it along with your child(ren)’s names, date(s) of birth, grade(s), and the week of camp for which you are applying. We will then contact you regarding your application. If we are able to grant the scholarship, we do ask for a payment of $10 to cover the processing fees. Due to the high demand for camp scholarships, we recommend that you apply early!
