Laura Florence

Laura is a natural resources professional, specializing in Great Lakes education and outreach. She has worked with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Great Lakes Environmental Research Lab, Michigan Sea Grant, and the Great Lakes Commission to bridge gaps among scientists, educators, and the public. Laura earned her BS in biology and MS in aquatic ecology at University of Michigan and has enjoyed being part of the Ann Arbor community for over 20 years. She is involved with the Washtenaw Elementary Science Olympiad as a head coach and as a parent volunteer in the Ann Arbor Public Schools. Laura, her husband, and their four children enjoy camping, hiking, and tromping around in Michigan’s lakes and rivers. They can also frequently be found at LSNC, talking to the raptors and exploring the Black Pond Woods.
