Thank you to everyone that joined us at our Full Moon Lantern Lit Walk. It was a beautiful night. Heritage Newspapers joined us as well and captured the event and introduction of Susan Westhoff, our new executive director.
The Leslie Science & Nature Center has designed a six week program that engages the residents of the lock down unit at Children’s Village in Oakland County. The program, Raptor Respect, has the participants working with raptors under the tutelage of our Raptor Program Director, Francie Krawcke.
Learning how to handle and care for a variety of our raptors is only a part of the project. LSNC staff has worked directly with the Children’s Village teachers to create lessons involving math, reading, writing, presentation and speaking skills. The project will culminate with each student preparing and presenting a three to five minute talk for their peers.

The Leslie Science & Nature Center (LSNC) is pleased to announce the launch of our new website and social media efforts that will improve outreach to supporters far and wide. Generously funded by a grant from the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation. In the past, like many nonprofit organizations, the Center has struggled to establish an online presence that reflects its reputation and impact on the local community. The staff worked collaboratively with Invisible Engines, Ascalon Films, Nonprofit Enterprise at Work, and technology social worker, Linh Song. Given the Center's many, year-round program offerings and diverse audience from toddlers to seniors, it was essential that the website be easily navigable and informative. Combined with our social media efforts, the Center is now able to share community members' photos, videos.
LSNC thanks the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation for supporting this initiative and welcomes feedback on their online efforts found at www.lesliesnc.org. Further information and questions can be directed to Karen Rendell.

We're honored to be named one of the top 10 Nature Centers in Southeast Michigan by Metro Parent magazine! You can read more here.
